Summary  

To provide technical and administrative support to the Underwriting Department.

Essential Functions  

 

1.   Perform underwriting tasks as determined by the supervising underwriter, including new/renewal business screening, renewal and endorsement underwriting, referring exceptions to the supervising underwriter.

 

2.   Refer business beyond delegated authority to supervising underwriter.

 

3.   Manage diaries and follow-ups for information on accounts.

 

4.   Provide assistance to Loss Control and audit reports.

 

5.   Rate new and renewal applications as required.

 

6.   Prepare endorsements.

 

7.   Perform other duties as requested by management.

 

Requirements  

1.   High School degree or equivalent required.  Some college education, a plus

 

2.   One year insurance company underwriting or comparable insurance experience

 preferred.

 

3.   Pursuit of CPCU, CIC or other applicable designations preferred but not required.

 

4.   Proficient in MS Office Software applications.

 

5.   Strong verbal and written skills.

 

6.   Able to comprehend and carry out instructions

 

7.   Detail oriented, able to handle multiple tasks and work effectively in a face paced environment.
