We are currently seeking a full time Excess Work Comp Underwriter to work as part of our Mayfield Heights, OH team.

Essential Functions  
  1. Analyzes information on new and renewal business in order to accept, price, modify or reject business within delegated authority level
  2. Refers business beyond delegated authority to appropriate authority level with a complete analysis and recommendation for accepting or rejecting the risk
  3. Reviews and applies information from all departments on changes that apply to underwriting issues
  4. Explains coverage(s), rules forms, and be able to explain decisions to agents/brokers, company personnel, and policy holders as needed or required
  5. Participates in Agency Underwriting Audits
  6. Attain and maintain knowledge of current market trends, conditions and competition in the marketplace
  7. Pursue continuing education as either assigned or necessary
  8. Respond to regulatory and compliance issues
  9. Assist in the education of branch associates regarding insurance issues
  10. Perform other duties as requested by the Vice President of Underwriting, and/or local Branch Leadership. Screens new applications for accuracy, completeness, and acceptability.
  1. College degree preferred
  2. Computer literate
  3. Three years professional (underwriting, claims, or marketing) insurance company experience
  4. Must be knowledgeable of ISO and NCCI rating and coverage forms
  5. Good communication skills both oral and written
  6. Ability to handle multi-tasking
