The company began business in 1962, domiciled in Texas. The company was acquired in 2005 by Century Surety Company, and changed its name to "ProCentury Insurance Company."
ProCentury is licensed as an admitted company in 33 states and the District of Colubia. It also operates on a surplus lines or non-admitted basis in Ohio.
On July 31, 2008, ProCentury became a subsidiary of Meadowbrook Insurance Group, Inc.
